It's probably about time for another update - despite the fact that Gragoyle's probably never going to catch up to me Tounge

Two thirds of the way into season four and after a difficult start in the conference national I have pulled my way out of the relegation zone for now. It's not been an easy step up, but after plunging to 23rd, I managed to pull off a superb run of 9 games unbeaten! Unfortunatly that was followed by 4 straight league defeats Sad Fortunatly we've battled back up since then and are currently in 16th place after 31 games, 8 points clear of the dreaded drop zone.

I believe the key to our survival is in trust with the team that got us promoted. Despite ejecting 11 reserve players, I only brought in three players in the first transfer window (not including two loanee defenders sent by Fulham - my parent club). They were a young goalee with a funny name as a long-term replacement for my 41 year old GK/Assman and two young strikers, one of whom was the Barnet loanee I had last season.

Unfortunatly, we've been hit more severely with injuries this season including losing all 5 keepers at once, forcing a rushed loan GK from Northampton. Also, as I type this I have 8 strikers out of action which means I have to play my next game with a january-signed striker along side a feeble product of my youth system who will never amount to anything. I don't have enough depth in (attack-minded) midfield to play only one upfront.

The good news is that I am making loads of profit Smile After spending the first three years in debt, I have overturned that within a month or two and now have £177K in the bank which will hopefully mean I'll have enough to start upgrading the facilities in pre-season.

I managed to get to the third round of the FA cup which was quite an achievement, however was stopped from getting any further by Championship side Norwich. In the last 8 of the FA Trophy after my team made a big deal of beating Gravesend - Losing the lead twice to draw 2-2 away and then losing the lead twice again at home to force extra time before scoring a final goal to win 4-3.

Maybe this will spur Gragoyle on to play a few league games finally? Wink

OMG! Remind me never to post mid-season again. In the next match after posting the above I witnessed the most awful display of football by my side ever. A complete shambles in which despite being a home encounter I was absolutely outclassed and outplayed in almost every minute of the match. Despite saving TWO penalties and scoring a goal in the 78th minute from my one and only attempt I lost 4-1 to end my current 5 match unbeaten run. Who was this side that beat me so convincingly? Lowly Gateshead. Pbbbt!

If only FM07 had a fine wages for the matchday squad option! Roll Eyes
